Session I-Taking Stock/Getting Started
Finding Opportunities to Take Action
(TRACS-Finding Opportunities to Take Action)
Session presenter: Laura Prange, Texas A&M University- Kingsville.
Are you an individual on your campus who knows how important sustainability is, but doesn’t know what it takes to get started? Are you among those that see the potential for sustainability programs on your campus, but knows there are few available resources? Do you work on a campus where students know that campuses across the country are taking sustainability action, and want to be a part of the movement?
No two campuses are alike so there is no one-size-fits-all approach to greening your campus, but through experience and professional preparation, session leaders will share valuable insights about the process of building a culture of sustainability that you can take to your campus. The first part of the session will inventory opportunities for sustainability change that are likely to be found on your campus; the second part of the session will present a case study of how one campus identified an asset and built an enduring sustainability program; the final part of the session will be interactive between attendees. Challenging? Yes, and exciting too.
